SIF-ICAP Mexico was formed in November 2000 from the merger of ICAP's operation in Mexico, Harlow Butler Mexico, with Servicio De Integracion Financiera (SIF), a subsidiary of the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV) û the Mexican Stock Exchange. SIF had been created in 1998 to offer brokerage services in fixed income products. In less than one year, the company consolidated itself as the leader in the market.
The merger of SIF with Harlow Butler brought together SIF's strength in fixed income with Harlow Butler's leadership in foreign exchange and money markets. The combined entry gives SIF-ICAP a strong position in Mexican Financial markets and provides a platform for the marketing of international products in Mexico and the marketing of Mexican products through ICAP's international network.
SIF-ICAP aims to provide electronic services which allow rapid execution in spot foreign exchange and fixed income securities. The company operates the SET Titulos de Deuda system, an automated trading system for fixed income, and Broker-by-Phone, a telephone brokerage service for fixed income participants.
