I chose to apply to ICAP's Industry Insight programme to get a better feel for becoming an inter-dealer broker. I had previously been exposed to trading and was very curious to see the brokerage side of deals. I wanted to choose a field that would be an excellent opportunity for gaining an understanding of the market. Moreover, I chose ICAP because of its excellent reputation globally and it was recommended to me by a fellow classmate.
In the Industry Insight Programme, we were given a three day crash course in finance. We were taught the many different financial instruments traded and their significance in today's global economy. We learned the relationships and fundamentals of these instruments and how they are traded. We also learn the "ropes" of inter-dealer brokering.
I am heavily into day trading, managing my landscaping company, and my fraternity. With my early exposure to the market, experience in dealing with real life clients, and enthusiasm in social events, I feel that it will help me greatly in the business world.
