Assessment

Assessment centres allow us to determine your suitability for ICAP and the business division you have applied to. Each centre is tailored according to the business area you've applied too, with specific selection tools used to evaluate your skills for your chosen role.

Typically, assessment centres consist of a number of exercises including a group exercise, a numerical test, a trading simulation (broking only) and an interview. If you complete the exercises successfully, you will then be invited back on another day for a final interview with the business.

Do:
  • Make sure you know how to get to the office. Be early!
  • Dress appropriately, first impressions are important
  • Make sure that you have brought everything you need with you, for example reading glasses, prescribed medication, calculator etc
  • Do as much research as you can
  • Be enthusiastic! This is your chance to sell yourself
  • Engage in eye contact with your interviewer
  • Remember that you are being assessed the entire time so make sure that you make a good impression at each stage of the assessment centre
Don't:
  • Be late to an assessment centre or make sure you let someone know if you are going to be delayed
  • Don't guess the answers to the tests. If you are not sure of the answer then return to the question later
  • Don't be loud for the sake of it in the group exercise. The most vocal member of the group is not always the best!
  • Be dishonest. Your interviewer will be used to probing candidates in interviews. Make sure you answer our questions as honestly as possible
  • Don't panic. Assessment centres can be stressful but try to remain calm and enjoy them as much as you can
